le fond de carte is the term for a map that is devoid of any detail, a map of outlines that a cartographer fills with the information they're attempting to convey. The piece begins with four melodic statements that pass through the ensemble, rendering the outline for the material that emerges from inside of it. The middle section of the work reflects the melodies from before in a different lens, showcasing different aspects of their makeup and composition, before the piece melts back into its original state. le fond de carte was written for Hub New Music.
